Carmen Gill July 27th 1925 Carmen left this world March 9th 2014 doing what she loved best. Outdoors, no matter the weather, taking care of her animals, living life her way down to the last second. She represented an era hardly understood today. Women got up at dawn or before, cooked, cleaned, ranched, gardened, then canned what they gardened, took care of their husbands, and in between raided their kids. There was a war and a depression going on, they made from “scratch”, their food, their entertainment, their families. They knew “how to get things done”. Self reliance was not a virtue, it was a necessity. Carmen was preceded in death by two husbands (consecutively) Edward Hunter and Pete Gill, and a beloved daughter, Marian Hunter Wholers. She is survived by a daughter Marlyn Hunter Branstetter, a son Mike Gill, Grandson’s Joseph and Matthew Zanone, Granddaughter’s Roxanne Schrader Smit, Meaghan Branstetter Langer & Maneva Gill, Eleven Great Grandchildren & one Great Grandchild, all loved dearly. You always knew where Carmen stood on an issue, you might not always agree. She wasn't a bystander to her life, she was a doer and a force to be reckoned with. That is her legacy and her gift to all who knew her. Private family services were held on March 14, 2014.
Arrangements were under the care of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary.
