Charles Lee Thomas

CHARLES LEE THOMAS,
Charlie was born on Feb. 16, 1925 in Ettersburg, & passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2013. He was raised on a sheep ranch on Elk Ridge, west of Miranda where he had to ride a horse many miles to school.
He was a man who learned to do many things on his own and had many talents and skills. His first job was working on the county road department in the Ettersburg and Whitethorn areas. He then logged in the area for many years doing his own falling and skidding logs with the "Cat" and driving logging truck. After logging, he worked for C.D.F. (Cal-Fire) as a fire crew foreman at High Rock.
He married his wife, Betty on Jan 10, 1953 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Jan. 10, 2013. Together they built their own home in Weott from the ground up. Charlie loved photography & took many beautiful photos while traveling to every state in the U.S. and several foreign countries.
Charlie is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Susan & son-in-law Bill Etter of Petrolia & grandsons James & Ben Etter. He was preceded in death by his son Gary Martin Thomas & grandson Gary Wayne Thomas, His parents Adrian & Florence Thomas & brother Jim Thomas.
Funeral service will be held at Gobles Fortuna Mortuary, 560 12th St., Fortuna, CA. on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 11:00AM, Where friends and family are invited to attend.
Private interment will be held in Healdsburg, Ca.
