Charlotte Walker went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2014, following a lengthy heart condition. She was 63 years old. Charlotte was born November 11, 1950 to LW & Stella Lorene West in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Her family moved to Humboldt County when she was three years old. She attended Rio Dell Elementary and graduated from Fortuna High in 1968. She married Alvin Lyons and they had three children, John (J.P.), Charlie (Chuck), and Susie before her husband passed away in 1973. She moved to Red Bluff and met and married Gary Amos and they had a son, Michael. They lived and worked on his families' walnut ranch for 8 years together. She was proud to have learned to take care of the many farm animals and drive the tractors and large trucks. After her divorce she moved back to Humboldt County to be closer to her parents and siblings. She moved to Carlotta and fell in with love and married her husband of 25 years, Bob Walker, adding two step-sons Scott and Eric to the family. Near the end of her life she spent many happy hours with her good friend Thomas Osborne enjoying walking in the redwoods and along the rivers.
Charlotte was a Certified Nurse's Assistant and worked in Care Homes in Fortuna and as an In-Home care provider for 30 years. She was a blessing to many elderly folks in our community. She also had a soft heart for the less fortunate, especially women and children who had been abused as well as the homeless. She raised her four children of her own, along with several others that she welcomed into her home over the years. Greg Clark is one who kept touch after he was grown and she considered him a son as well.
After retiring, she spent her time helping family, friends, and anyone that she felt she could. She enjoyed visiting thrift stores and picking up things that someone she knew might need. She loved attending her grandchildren's school and sports events. In her younger years she was on a bowling team and enjoyed playing cards. She worked at the Voting Polls in Fortuna and volunteered at the Fortuna Library book sales. She loved to read, crochet, work in her yard, and take long drives.
She was preceded in death by her father LW West, brother Lary West, sister Sondra (Sandy) Welch, son Charles Lyons, step-son Eric Walker, husband Al Lyons, husband Robert Walker, and brother in-laws Lawrence Duclo and Dale Welch.
