Dawn Thrasher Family and friends mourn the loss on February 12, 2017 of Dawn Bernice (Kelly) Thrasher. Dawn was born January 4, 1960 in Arcata to Ellen Bernice (McKeown) Kelley and Harold W. Matt Kelly. She attended Eureka schools until the sudden death of her mother, at which time she moved to Fortuna to live with her father and step-mother. She graduated from Fortuna High in 1978 and attended H.S.U. for several semesters. She married in 1981 and was blessed with a son and a daughter. Her role as Mother was the most important one in her life. After a break to raise her family, she returned to College of the Redwoods, graduating with a specialization in computer science. In recent years she has been employed at Brookdale Senior Living. She was very artistic and enjoyed the creation of handmade jewelry. She loved animals; her pets will miss her too. She is survived by her son Joel Thrasher, her daughter Kelsi Thrasher, brother Matthew Kelly, his wife Marcy and children Hunter and Emma, former husband Rick Thrasher, second mom Marcia Kelley and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many friends, both new and of long standing, who will miss her sweet and caring ways and her beautiful smile. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellen Butler in 1971, father Harold Kelley in 2003, brother Martin Kelley in 1993 and many others, deeply loved, who will welcome her home. There will be a memorial service for Dawn at Christ Lutheran Church in Fortuna (2132 Smith Lane) on Friday, March 3rd 2017 at 11:00 AM.
