Debera Austrus Obituary

Deb Austrus earned her angel wings on February 25, 2014 surrounded by her loving and supportive family.
What she taught us in the last four years in the face of adversity, was beyond inspirational not only for her
family, but for countless others as well. Throughout our journey, her bravery and courage showed others facing life altering situations that one's love for life and determination can overcome the insurmountable odds affecting them. Those fortunate enough to know her or of her battles are now so much better for it.
Deb was born on April 27, 1956 in Garberville, California. She attended local schools and graduated from Fortuna High School in 1975. She married her perfect life partner on January 31, 1976. Deb's working life was in the bookkeeping field for various companies including Eel River Sawmills, Bridgeville School, Mercer Fraser and the City of Ferndale.
Deb enjoyed attending her children's sporting events. From t-ball to college soccer, she was considered the team mom. This continued on through her daughters adult Softball, where she would become the inspiration for an ongoing, annual Breast Cancer fundraising tournament held in Fortuna.
Deb is survived by her husband Cas, son Jeff (Wanda), daughter Cassie Coppini (Steve) and grandson
Wyatt, parents John & Dorene Frey, aunt and uncle Ed & Christine Frey and half-brother Terry Forsgren. She is also survived by many close friends and relatives and her beloved lab Roxy, which spent the last four years by her side.
The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Dr Suryadevara and the entire staff at Eureka Internal Medicine, with extended thanks as well to our pharmacy family at Greens Pharmacy in Fortuna, our "Batting for Boobies" family, Campton Heights Baptist Church and the nursing staff in the med/surg unit at Redwood Memorial Hospital.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fortuna, on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM. There will be a Private graveside committal and a public gathering following the funeral service at Loleta Fire Pavilion.
