Delight Edna (Hall) Davis, born on January 24, 1938, in Rohnerville, California, to Lloyd F. Hall and Edna (Jones) Hall, passed away on July 30, 2024. Delight’s early education was in Rohnerville, where she attended the old school street Rohnerville until sixth grade, and then Toddy Thomas School. She was part of the pioneering first class to graduate from Toddy Thomas School on the old Campton Ranch in Rohnerville, and went on to graduate from Fortuna Union High School in 1965.
Delight's passion for horses began at the tender age of two, and she spent much of her life engaged in a variety of interests including riding, hunting, fishing, playing musical instruments (keyboard, cornet, French horn), collecting color glass, reading, playing games, crocheting, drawing, swimming, and painting both inside and outside her home.
Her professional life was notable for her pioneering spirit as one of the first women to work for Caltrans, starting in 1978 at Leggett Valley and then moving on to Willits. She was a proud graduate of San Romo Labor School in 1981. Delight's career also included stints at various places including fisheries like Benhow and Hartsooks, House of Burgess, Trinity Flower Nursery, Sledd’s Florist, and even working as a maid at Red Bluff.
Delight cherished her lifelong friendships, notably with Loa Traby and Faye Goodner, and maintained a special bond with her cousin, Marlene (Holberg) Doke. She also thought everyone should work, drive, swim, and read.
Delight was a loving mother to three sons: Donald Tuttle, Lloyd Tuttle, and Caleb Kelsey, all of Rohnerville. She was a proud grandmother to Elizabeth and Richard Tuttle of Eureka and a great-grandmother to Jake Tuttle, whose loving mother is Jessica.
Her legacy is one of dedication, diverse interests, and a spirit of perseverance and community.
