Floyd Kenneth Wilson

Floyd passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 89 at his home on Sunday, November 9th. He was born September 16, 1925 to Blanche and Alva Wilson in Limon, Colorado.

Floyd grew up in Ferndale, graduating from Ferndale High in 1943. He entered the US Navy where he served on a cargo ship, the USS Algol, in the South Pacific during WWII and was active in organizing naval reunions with his former fellow sailors. Floyd is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara, daughter Connie Berti, sons Breck (Cathy) and Kevin Wilson, grandsons Ryan Berti and James Wilson, granddaughters Alisa Mora (Lou)and Raina Valencia (Steve) and great grandson Charlie Berti.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Minerva Fast, Virginia Saunders, Madgel Rylander, Marie Wilson and brothers Harold Wilson, Charles Wilson, Marion Wilson and Donald Wilson.

Floyd and Barbara were in the dairy business for 45 years with dairies in Ferndale, Orick and Loleta. Floyd retired in 1994 to Fortuna and was very proud to be a WWII veteran. He and his son Breck went on the Honor Flight to Washington DC to visit the WWII War Memorial in October of 2011. Floyd marched in the Memorial Day Parade in Ferndale for many years, proudly carrying the American flag.

Floyd was a huge San Francisco Giants fan and never missed a game. He was thrilled to see their third World Series win in 5 years this October.

He was a loving and steadfast husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that will be greatly missed.

A celebration of Floyds life will be held Friday, November 14 at 2 pm at the Veterans Memorial Building in Ferndale. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Legion or the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Ferndale, California.
