GORDON L. AMOS Gordon Amos age 85 a resident of Blocksburg for 35 years passed quietly Monday April 13, 2015. Gordon and his 6 brothers were raised in Sargent, Nebraska. He served as an MP in the Army during the Korean War. He married Shirley McGaha in October 1951. Gordon worked in sawmills most of his life retiring from Sierra Pacific in 1985. He loved working for Red Emmerson and the challenges of running a sawmill. After retirement Gordon kept busy being a rancher, restoring old cars and cutting and selling firewood. His favorite passion was elk hunting in Oregon and Idaho which he did for nearly 40 years. Gordon's trophy elk hangs over the fireplace at the Elks Club in Eureka. He also loved fishing and deer and pheasant hunting. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Shirley, his son Gordie Amos and his wife Eileen of Blocksburg, daughter Anita Bunnell and her husband Andy of Arcata, and daughter Sheri Hobbs and husband Jim of Homer, Alaska, his grandchildren: Pamela Sandstrom, Scott Amos, Amanda and Zac Hobbs, Malinda and Rachel Damme, Cole and Cody Bunnell and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind one brother, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Hospice of Humboldt for their wonderful support.
