Gracie A. Gilbert, (Grace)
Mom was born on August 24, 1937 in Eureka, California to Kenneth B. Sr. and Mabel L. Kindred, and passed away on May 22, 2014 in Fortuna, California. Mom is a Humboldt native and resided in Fortuna the majority of her life. Mom was raised in Scotia, attending Scotia Elementary and graduating from Fortuna High in 1955.
Her working career was in the lumber industry, working as a log clerk, payroll clerk and bookkeeper. She was pre-deceased by her father, Kenneth B. Kindred Sr, (1973), her mother Mabel L. Kindred (2010), her first husband Cecil E. Wilkinson (1966), and her second husband Edward K. Gilbert (2008), her brother Kenneth B. Kindred Jr. (2004), her nephew Timothy Cardoza, her niece Cindy Cardoza Tyler and her dearest friend Carlene Lennon.
Gracie is survived by her sons, Cecil K. Wilkinson, Craig K. and wife Linda Wilkinson and Corey K. Wilkinson, her grandson Joshua J. Wilkinson and wife Rebecca, her granddaughters Rebekah Brooks and husband Keith, Stacie Wilkinson and Jennifer Johnson. Her great grandchildren Caden, Macy, Taylor, Raigan, Korah and Kylee, her sister Kay E. Cardoza, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
We send a heartfelt and sincere thank you to the care providers at Fortuna Rehabilitation and Wellness Center for the care of Mom for the last ten months.
Friends and family are invited to the graveside service at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 3975 Broadway, Eureka, Ca., on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Donations may be made in Mom's name to Hospice of Humboldt, 2010 Myrtle Ave., Eureka, CA 95501.
