Hector Senestrato Obituary

Hector A. Senestraro, "Pappy"
Dad passed away peacefully, April 20, 2017, with his family by his side in Brookings, OR.
Dad was born January 29,1931, in Grizzly Bluff to Giuseppe (Joseph) and Corinna Senestraro. He grew up in the Eel River Valley with his brothers and sister. Dad attended local Humboldt County schools, graduating from Fortuna High where he participated in various sports and FFA. During that time he also worked on the family ranch.
Dad was proud of the fact that he served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Dad married Alyce Dusina on June 6,1951. Together they raised a family and operated their dairy ranch business until retirement in 1992. They were married for 56 years, prior to our mom's passing in 2008.
Dad loved spending time with family, doing yard work, listening to country music, walking with his friends, pancake breakfasts, and in recent years Dad enjoyed being part of a coffee group at Burger King.
In May 2015 he moved to Brookings, OR to make new friends at a senior living home and to be near family.
Dad is survived by his three children and their spouses, Suzanne Huber (Gary) of Fortuna, Kathy Brattain (Dan) of Brookings, OR, and James Senestraro (Becci) of Fortuna. His seven grandchildren, Devon Bollan (Nicholas), Melissa Sanderson (Chris), Ross Huber (Nichole), Zachary Brattain (Patricia), Jacob Brattain, Samantha Senestraro and Katrina Senestraro. His four great-grandchildren, Mallory and Gage Sanderson, Hadley Huber and Jackson Brattain. Also survived by his two brothers and their spouses, Gene Senestraro (Betty), John Senestraro (Diane), sister-in-law Helen Peck (George), brother-in-law Keith Baird. Dad is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many other relatives, and friend/neighbor Dave Milton.
Dad was preceded in death by his wife Alyce, his parents, in-laws Frank and Mary Dusina, brother Frank Senestraro, sister Elsie Baird, brother-in-law Frank Berti and sister in-law Norma Berti.
Dad's family would like to thank the staff at Seaview Senior Living/Brightcreek Memory Care, and doctors/staff at Sutter Coast Hospital. A special thank you to everyone at Curry Good Samaritan for the exceptional care during Dad's last month of life. Sincere gratitude to Karen Morrow who was always there for Dad, providing loving care and support.
