Jacqueline "Jackie" P. Phippen, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Sacramento, California. She was born on September 19, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to Harriet and Edward Rice. At the age of 10, Jackie moved with her family to Fresno, California, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. Since 1962, she resided in her cherished home on Pine Hill in Eureka and worked for the County Health Department for nearly 24 years.
Jackie and her husband, Theodore "Ted" Phippen, shared a love of square dancing and round dancing as members of the Humboldt Hoedowners for over 34 years. Together, they enjoyed traveling across the United States in their fifth wheel and exploring the world on cruises. Jackie also found joy in game nights, solving puzzles, and monthly lunches with her close friends. Above all else, she treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be remembered for her generous heart and positive spirit.
Jackie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Ted Phippen. She is survived by her children, William P. Egbert III and Linda Jones; her three bonus children, Paul Phippen, Edward Phippen, and Margaret Phippen; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her brother, William A. Rice. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Goble's Fortuna Mortuary, 560 12th Street, Fortuna, California. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Rohnerville Cemetery, 5254 Rohnerville Road, Fortuna. A lunch reception will take place afterward at Goble's Fortuna Mortuary.
Jackie's family extends heartfelt gratitude to her friends and neighbors who supported her in recent years. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
