Lawrence Coleman Obituary

Larry Coleman passed away on December 16, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Redding, California at the age of 78. Larry was born on November 21, 1936 in Eureka, California but spent most of his life in the Blocksburg area. Larry served in the United States Army with the 82 airborne. He worked at mills and logging throughout the county, eventually going to work for the California department of forestry in 1968 where he was a heavy equipment operator. He retired from forestry in 1993. Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years Veltha Coleman, his three sons & three daughters along with their spouses: Russell & Patricia Coleman, Roger & Bonnie Coleman, Ricky & Katherine Coleman, Jackie & Glenn Lipscomb, Shanna Humphrey, and Sharon & Kevin Walker. He is survived also by two former sons-in-law Albert Scott & Frank Humphrey. Larry is survived by his 28 grandchildren & 24 great-grandchildren whom he loved very much: Russell JR & Megan Coleman, Misty Coleman & Kyle Gray, Dakotah Coleman, Roger & Cheyenne Coleman, Stacy Coleman & Jed Willis, Amanda Coleman & Calvin Kercher, Jarrod Trimeloni & Lyndee Albee David, Anna Coleman, Daniel Coleman & Brooke Renner, Cody & Alisha Lipscomb, Brady & Khloe Lipscomb, Boden & Kelsie Lipscomb, Shelby Lipscomb, Kendall & Dan Fraiser, Austin & Logan Scott, Rosston Scott, Katie & Chad Galli, Kassandra Humphrey, Karlee Humphrey, Levi Humphrey, Amelia Mcmahan, Klayton Walker, Kolter Walker, Rebecca Walker, Naomi Walker & Miguel, Kevin & Brea Walker, Kalvin & Ashley Walker. Larry's great- grandchildren are CJ & Hyram Wilburn, Mackenzie & Leila Coleman, Brooklyn & Keegan Willis, Ailana & Taylor Kercher, Jacee, Peyton, Morgan & Riggin Albee, Peyton, Blake, & Grant Lipscomb, Brayden & Kynslie Lipscomb, Kenden, George, Hayden, & Ridge Fraiser, Sage Scott, Lane Galli & Carsen Mcmahan. Larry is survived by his brother Eugene & his wife Billie, his sisters Judy Scott & Voncey Detrick & Darrell, and his many nieces & nephews and wonderful friends. He was a hardworking man and will be greatly missed by all of his friends and loved ones. He was always there to lend a helping hand. Larry loved life, he loved his family immensely as well as his many friends. He loved his border collie Prissy. He loved the outdoors, lending a helping hand to all. He loved helping when needed by his sons in logging or helping on the ranches in the area. He is an inspiration to our family in more ways than you could ever think of. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren & great grandchildren is what inspires us the most. It is our prayer that we can all live the rest of our lives with the same honor and respect as he had. We will always cherish the time we had with him, we will love him forever. Larry was preceded in death by his infant daughter Rebecca Suzanne, his father Philip Coleman, his mother Nancy Detrick, his sister Phyllis Want, his brother Antone Detrick, his stepfather Lee Detrick and parent-in-laws Harold and Inias Johnson. A celebration of life will be held at the Fortuna Fire Hall on Feb 28, 2015 at 1:00 pm. It will be a pot luck. Contributions can be made to: Alderpoint Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements were under the care of Goble's Fortuna Mortuary.
