Marvin Stewart, Sr. Obituary

Marvin E Stewart Sr, 77 of Fortuna, California passed away after a very short bout with cancer. Marvin, Marv or Brown Horse as he was known by, was born on April 22, 1936 in Rich Hill, Missouri. As a young child his family moved to Molalla, Oregon, eventually settling in Fortuna, CA. In 1953, at 17 years old Marvin left school, married Karlene Stutz and began driving logging truck full time for his father Clyde. The young couple had two daughters: Kathy (1954) and Sherrie (1955). Marvin then remarried in 1965 to Prudence Versell, and they had one child, a son Chip aka lil brown horse in 1967.
Marvs love for driving a logging truck was evident, as he did it for 60 years. Starting with hauling for his dad, to going independent for over 20 years, to driving for Three Rivers Logging for about 25 years, right up to August of 2013! His mechanical knowledge and ability to be easy on vehicles made him a very trustworthy guy to get the job done. He was a very reliable and loyal man in all phases of life. A very talented musician, his favorite instrument was the guitar. Marv could be seen at many popular venues in his youth, entertaining and jamming with his buddies. More recently, he would entertain his grandkids with his musical library, and his loves were fishing, NASCAR (Joe Gibbs Team), and his favorite NFL team seemingly was the team that won the most recent super bowl! The world has lost a great storyteller, father, grandpa, friend, historian and absolute go getter and tough guy.
Marvin is survived by his Partner of 33 years Dona Cox; Brother Don (Carol) Stewart: Sister Mary (John) Swiestra: Daughter Kathy (Greg) McKenzie: Son Chip (Mary) Stewart: Nephew Donnie (Lauri) Stewart: Nieces Terrie (Gary) Hulslander, Bernie (Darcy) Johnson, and Susie Harmon. As well as many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Hazel Stewart, his sister Georgann (Bud) Harmon, and his daughter Sherrie (Chas) Jensen.
