On the morning of May 19, 2014, our beloved mother, Myrtle Harriet Anderson passed away with her loving niece Clista Lewis at her side. She was born on November 27, 1916 in Cosmopolis, Washington. She was the fourth born of six children and when she was six the family moved to California, settling in Callahan, then later moving into a log cabin in Grouse Creek where she lived for the next twelve years. She married Everett Anderson on August 24, 1935 and they moved to Rio Dell, California in July, 1936. They lived in Scotia for five years, then back to Rio Dell for the next sixty years. Their daughter was born in 1937 and a son in 1942. She was involved in many activities, PTA, Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts and the Rio Dell Garden Club. She was a postal clerk in the US Post Office in Rio Dell for 33 years. During their retirement they traveled the United States in their small travel trailer.
After her husband's death, she moved to Sequoia Springs Assisted Living in Fortuna. She is survived by her daughter Joanne and husband Warren Smith, their three children Clay and Kenna Smith, Cari and Brad Stanhope, Chad and Marycha Smith. Her son Ross and wife Patsy Anderson, their two children Ross and Teri Anderson, Elise and Mark Tobin. Her sister Opal McAlister, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was a lovely lady and will be greatly missed.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service and reception at Calvary Chapel Fortuna on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements are under the care of Gobles Fortuna Mortuary.
