William Hunsaker Obituary

Bill Hunsaker passed away on June 9, 2014 in Fortuna, California. Bill was born in Antioch, Nebraska on April 27, 1919. He moved to California in 1921. He grew up in Fort Seward and Alderpoint where he attended Grammar School. He moved to Alton in 1933, attended Fortuna High School and graduated in 1936.
He had a short career as a trapper, and then started work at Pacific Lumber Company in 1937. He worked his way to Auditor in 1966 and ultimately to Vice President of Administration in 1978. Bill retired from Pacific Lumber Company in 1984 after 46 years of service.
Bill served in the United States Navy and was on an aircraft carrier in Tokyo Bay when the peace treaty with Japan was signed.
Bill maintained a lifetime interest in the sporting world. He was an avid bowler and golfer, fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed his last deer hunt at the age of 92. He also served on several community boards in the area.
He is survived by his wife Sandy, his daughters Ceilia Hunsaker, Sharon Hunsaker Adams and step-daughter Donna Hibbard. He is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He lived a full and wonderful life. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Verna Hunsaker.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
